I must say I was pretty thrilled with "kampong decor" of th eatery and I felt really at home while dining in. Th dishes are rather pricey I'd say.. Ranging from $6.50 for a plate of sambal squid to $10.50 for asam pedas served in claypot.
After lunch, we headed down to bugis street for a nice afternoon tea at a small eatery owned by a Hainanese "ah-kok". Well.. In case you're wondering, I'm teochew but because I am closer to my maternal side of my family, I grew up understanding and conversing in Hainanese. Anyhow... Grampy loves snacking on this hainanese delicacy called "Yi-bwah"

this hainanese snack is glutinous rice cake stuffed with sesame, peanuts and shredded coconut meat. Grampy says that Yi-bwah is often eaten at baby's first month or other special occasions such as birthdays or weddings.
So.... I had to give this "Yi-bwah" a try and yum yum. It tasted heavenly! This pretty much sums up my afternoon. Perfect wednesday with both my beloved Grampy and Grammy.
